Al-Khemeia The installation consisted of two spaces and was concerned with the stages of alchemy. I created two sound compositions, one for the interior of each space. I worked with water sounds and with vocal sounds as source materials. Through computer processing I obtained new sounds which were used in a subtle way. Thus, the original sounds are recognisable but have also a "surreal" quality. Since the spaces were not soundproof the two compositions had to work together. In one area one would hear vocal sounds with water sounds as a distant echo coming from the other space and vice versa. More information and sounds: www.catherineferguson.com
